Suspect Arrested Following Double Stabbing in Chinatown-International District

A 36-year-old male is in custody and two men are receiving treatment in the hospital following a stabbing incident this morning in Hing Hay Park.

According to witnesses, the suspect and two men were in a verbal dispute while standing inside the park just before 9:00 am Thursday when the assault occurred.  Officers responded to the 911 calls of the stabbing and officers from both the West and East Precinct responded to the scene and set up containment.  The primary officers located the two victims, ages 63 and 50, in the 400 block of South Maynard Street.  The officers secured the scene and the Seattle Fire Department  treated the injured victims.

The first victim had been stabbed multiple times, once in the chest, while the other victim had a slash wound to his face.  Both victims were transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.

Officers located the suspect several blocks from the scene and detained him.  Multiple witnesses positively identified the man as the suspect.  The suspect was taken into custody and advised of his rights.  The suspect still had possession of the knife on his person, which was later submitted into evidence.

The suspect was later booked into the King County Jail for investigation of assault.  Detectives will handle the follow up investigation.
