Detectives Seek Assistance Identifying Suspect Vehicle in Rainier Valley Shooting

Detectives are seeking any information on a possible suspect vehicle, its owner, and the identity of anyone involved in a shooting that occurred on Rainier Avenue in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 12th, 2018.

On August 12th, just before 2:00 am, Seattle Police officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 7400 block of Rainier Avenue South.  The victim, a 20-year-old man, who was returning home from work, drove through the 7400 block of Rainier Avenue South looking for a place to park his car.  The victim circled the block and then returned to the 7400 block, where there was an open parking space behind an occupied silver SUV.  The victim pulled next to the SUV and then put his vehicle in reverse, preparing to parallel park behind the occupied SUV.  The occupants of the SUV fired shots at the victim’s car, striking him multiple times.  The victim, whose car was already in reverse, accelerated his car and crashed into another vehicle.  The suspect vehicle fled the scene.

The victim was struck multiple times and was severely injured in the shooting.  The victim was transported to the hospital and is still recovering from his injuries.

Nearby cameras captured images of the suspect vehicle.  It is believed to be a silver Honda Pilot. It is also believed that the suspect vehicle would routinely park in that area prior to the shooting.

Anyone with information on this vehicle, its owner, or any other information related to this shooting is asked to contact Seattle Police detectives at (206) 233-5000.
