At approximately 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 4th, officers responded to a 911 call of a suspect who was pounding on the door of a female resident and refusing to leave. Officers arrived and conducted an area search, but were unable to locate the suspect.
At approximately 2:00 P.M. we received a 911 call to check the welfare of a female resident at 2800 East Yesler Way. Officers arrived and established that the suspect from the first call was inside the above residence with the female and refused to come outside. Officers surrounded the residence and continued to try to talk the suspect out. SWAT and Hostage Negotiators responded. Negotiators established telephone contact with the suspect and female. Negotiators were able to talk both subjects out. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. The 30-year-old female was uninjured, and was interviewed and released from the scene. The 45-year-old male suspect was taken to Harborview for an involuntary mental health evaluation, with possible additional criminal charges pending. Nobody was injured as a result of either incident.
