Car/pedestrian collision at Rainier & Othello

On November 6th at about 5:21 AM, a Ford Windstar driven by an adult male was travelling northbound on Rainier Avenue South when it struck an adult male pedestrian in the intersection of Othello Street and Rainier.  The pedestrian was transported to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.  The driver of the Windstar was uninjured.  The entire intersection of Rainier and Othello was closed for several hours while the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) processed the collision site.  The streets were fully reopened at around 9:20 AM.

Preliminary reports indicate that the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and crossing against a “Don’t Walk” signal.  The weather at the time was steady rain.  A full investigation is underway by TCIS detectives.
