On January 7th, 2009, shortly before 4:00 A.M. , South Precinct officers responded to a call of an in-progress auto theft from the parking lot of a store in the 3800 Block of Rainier Avenue South. The victim saw his vehicle being driven away from the store with 3 suspects inside his car. After calling 911, the victim and a witness chased the vehicle on foot until it crashed about a block away from the store. The victim and witness were able to detain one of the suspects at the crash location. The other two suspects were able to flee on foot. Officers arrived quickly and established containment. A K9 officer and his partner were called in and successfully tracked and apprehended the two suspects, who were hiding on the deck of a nearby house. The detained suspect and one of the hiding suspects were transported to the hospital for injuries they sustained. One suspect was booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Auto Theft. The other two adult males will be booked for the same charges once they are released from the hospital.
