On March 18th at approximately 7:27 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 10100 block of Renton Avenue South to investigate a vehicle collision involving extensive property damage. The driver was the only occupant of the suspect vehicle, a Chevrolet van. The 25-year-old male suspect struck a parked vehicle as it traveled north on Renton Avenue South. The suspect then veered off the roadway, drove over an embankment and came to rest on the front stairs of a church. The suspect did extensive damage to the grounds and front stairs of the church. SFD responded to the scene and extricated the driver before transporting him to Harborview Medical Center. Officers responded to HMC and investigated the suspect for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
