On 4/14/09, just shortly before 11pm, officers responded to a call of a man who had been shot and who was down in the 7400 block of Rainier Av s. Radio also broadcast that a possible suspect vehicle, a possible a white Nissan was fleeing the scene northbound on Rainier Avenue.
Officers arrived on scene within 2 minutes of the call being broadcasted. They quickly shut down Rainier Avenue in both directions and contained the scene. The victim was located on an exterior stairwell to the apartment building in the 7400 of Rainier Avenue S. He had been shot in the arm. A witness, who was with the victim when he was shot, provided responding officers with a vehicle description, including the license plate number. The witness also reported that the car was occupied by 4 individuals and described the gun used by the suspect.
At approximately 1045 p.m., officers spotted the vehicle in the area of 14th Avenue and S. Main St. It was occupied by 5 individuals and a gun was seen wedged between the center console. Officers were able to arrest all 5 individuals and the vehicle was impounded.
The victim was treated on scene and transported to Harborview with non- life threatening injuries. The Gang Unit took over the investigation and called CSI to process the scene for evidence.
The suspect a male 16-years-old, was booked into Youth Service Center for Investigation of Assault. The other 4 occupants of the vehicle were investigated and released.
