On June 18th at around 2:07 a.m. West Precinct patrol officers responded to a report of a scooter collision with injuries in the 3400 block of Gilman Avenue W. Seattle Fire Department medics provided emergency care to the 27-year-old male driver and 32-year-old female passenger and then transported them both to Harborview Medical Center for additional treatment.
It appears that the scooter driver lost control, jumped a curb and then struck a utility pole. The most recent medical update indicates that the injuries sustained by the driver and passenger, although serious, are not life-threatening. Neither of them were wearing helmets at the time of the collision. It is possible that the driver was impaired and that this may have been a contributing factor to the collision.
Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives were summoned to the scene to process the collision site and to take the lead in the investigation.
