On June 19 just after midnight officers responded to a 911 call of a stabbing outside a tavern in the 4300 block of University Way NE. Arriving officers identified the 29-year-old male suspect and immediately took him into custody. The 31-year-old male victim was treated on scene by SFD Medics for two slashes to his face and a stab wound to his upper left arm. He was then transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Both the suspect and victim were extremely intoxicated. According to witnesses the suspect uttered racial epithets that enraged the crowd inside the bar. The suspect was removed from the bar by staff and once outside produced a knife and began swinging it around as he verbally challenged the crowd out on the sidewalk. The victim confronted the suspect and was cut and stabbed.
Officers arrested the suspect and subsequently booked him into the King County Jail for Investigation of Assault, Investigation of Malicious Harassment and a felony warrant from out of state.
