Car/pedestrian collision on Northgate Way

On July 16th at 6:50 p.m., North Precinct patrol officers responded to a report of a car/pedestrian collision just west of the Northgate Way/Meridian Avenue N intersection.  A 28-year-old woman driving a Chevrolet Cavalier was travelling westbound on Northgate Way and preparing to turn southbound on Meridian Avenue N when she struck a 31-year-old male pedestrian who was in the roadway.  The pedestrian had apparently entered her lane by darting between cars stopped for the traffic signal.

Seattle Fire Medics responded and transported the man to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.  Traffic Collision Investigation detectives were called to investigate.  Northgate Way was temporarliy closed while detectives processed the collision site.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the male pedestrian was crossing the arterial east of the intersection and against the signal.  It is possible that he may have been under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
