On September 11th at approximately 9:15 p.m. a gold 2003 Volvo S60 driven by a 24-year-old male was traveling northbound in the 1300 block of Aurora Avenue North in the curb lane. At the same time a male pedestrian was running across Aurora Avenue North from west to east at Comstock Street. The Volvo struck the pedestrian and knocked him to the curb. SFD Medics responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Officers were later told by HMC staff that the pedestrian’s condition was critical.
Officers evaluated the Volvo driver for signs of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. There were no signs of impairment or intoxication detected. The driver was subsequently interviewed and released from the scene.
Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives responded to the scene and continue to actively investigate.
