On 9/28/09, shortly after 12:00 a.m., Officers responded to 18th Av NE and NE 45th to a call of an armed street robbery. The victim stated that an unknown suspect came up from behind, put a knife to his throat, and demanded his wallet. The suspect took the victim’s wallet and ran off.
The victim followed the suspect briefly and gave the suspect’s description to 911. Officers arrived, conducted a search of the area and located the suspect in the 4500 block of University Way NE. The suspect ran from the officers but after a brief chase, was captured in the alley just to the East of the 4500 block of University Way NE.
The victim positively identified the suspect at the arrest location and his wallet was recovered from where the suspect had dropped it. The suspect stated that he robbed the victim because he needed gas money.
