Robbery Thwarted: suspect arrested

On 10/13/09, at approximately 11:17 p.m., the victim and a friend were walking northbound in the 2200 block of 1st Ave., when they walked pass the suspect.  

After they passed the suspect, he turned around and attacked the victim, knocking her to the ground.  During the assault, the victim’s purse strap broke as the suspect tried to take it.

Security staff from a local club observed the incident and deployed OC spray at the suspect to stop the assault. The deployment of the OC spray was effective and the  suspect began to walk away.

A witness followed the suspect until bike officers arrived and took him into custody.  The victim and witnesses positively identified the suspect. 

The suspect was arrested and later booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery and Assault.  The victim was transported to Harborview Medica Center for a medical evaluation.
