On November 24th at approximately 2:49 p.m. a 57-year-old man was sitting at a table in a mall food court in the 400 block of Pine Street. Preliminary investigation indicates that the male subject dropped the small handgun he was carrying at which point a single round was accidently discharged. The bullet went through the man’s leg and lodged into a nearby ceiling. The man was transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Nobody else was injured during the incident.
Officers interviewed the man, who will be released upon completion of his treatment at the hospital. Investigating officers have requested charges for Reckless Endangerment, a gross misdemeanor. The man was in possession of a valid concealed weapons permit and was lawfully carrying the gun.
