On December 1st at around 6:30 p.m., South Precinct patrol officers responded to a report of a truck/pedestrian collision at the intersection of Rainier Avenue South and South Andover Street. Upon arrival, officers located a 78-year-old female pedestrian deceased from injuries caused by the collision. Seattle Fire medics and the King County Medical Examiner’s Office responded. The male truck driver, in his fifties, and a number of witnesses were interviewed.
Traffic Collision Investigation detectives were called to the scene to investigate and process the collision site. The truck driver was turning right from westbound Andover to northbound Rainier. At some point during the turn, he struck the female victim, killing her. Further details regarding the collision are presently unknown and under investigation. It has been determined that the driver was not impaired or under the influence. The investigation continues.
