Vehicle/Pedestrian collision on Highway 99

On January 14th at 5:06 p.m. officers responded to a vehicle/pedestrian collision on southbound Highway 99 just south of the stadiums.  A 41-year-old male pedestrian was crossing Highway 99 from west to east.  An adult male driving a Honda Pilot was traveling southbound in the inside lane when he struck the pedestrian.  At this particular location, the highway is six lanes wide with a concrete divider.

SFD Medics responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of his life-threatening injuries.  Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives responded to the scene and continue to actively investigate.

The pedestrian’s presence on the highway may have been a contributing factor to the collision.  There were no citations issued, which is standard procedure in serious traffic collisions requiring extensive follow up investigation and collision reconstruction.

The on-scene investigation is complete and all traffic lanes are now open.
