A visitor to Seattle discovered that he had been the victim of a car prowl around 4:40 AM this morning (February 12th). Missing from his car was his luggage with all of his clothing and his credit cards. The man called his credit card company to cancel his cards. As he was reporting this, his credit card company informed him that someone was using his credit card at that very moment at a business on 6th Avenue. The victim called 911 to report the unlawful use of the credit card. Two West Precinct officers responded to the business and located a 41 year old male suspect using the card. When confronted by officers about the stolen card, the suspect stated that he had just been given the card by an acquaintance and was asked to go make a purchase. The suspect volunteered to take officers to the person who had given him the card. The officers and suspect then relocated to the 2000 Block of Terry Avenue where a 40 year old suspect was found to be in possession of all of the items that were taken in the original car prowl. That suspect was arrested and booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Possession of Stolen Property. The first suspect was interviewed and released from the precinct after providing officers with a written statement. The victim’s recovered property was returned to the victim.
