Man caught smashing car windows

On 6/13/10, at approximately 2:00 a.m., numerous callers reported a male breaking out car windows with an unknown object in the  4200 block of Brooklyn Av N.  Callers stated that at least 10 car windows had been broken out.  One report was that the windows of his neighbors unit was being broken out.  The male/suspect was carrying two back packs and it appeared that the back packs were used to carry stolen items.

The last caller stated that the suspect was armed with a hatchet and threw it at him before fleeing on foot.  During the area search, officers stopped a possible suspect S/B on the University Street bridge.  The suspect had two back packs with him and matched the description

Witnesses were available and made a positive ID on the suspect.  The suspect was taken into custody without incident and transported to the North precinct. The suspect was subsequently booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Malicious Mischief.
