Shots fired at local night club

On 6/13/10, at approximately 2:30 a.m., shortly after bar close, officers heard a single gunshot come from the area just to the north of a night club in the 2200 block of Western Av.  According to the Club Security, they had been advised that a male who had just gotten into a red Cadillac had been armed with a handgun.

Officers contacted this subject and ordered him from the car but he had no gun on his person.  He had been the only occupant in the car, and there was a black semiautomatic handgun, with the hammer cocked, clearly visible sticking out from under the driver’s seat.

During the investigation, the male admitted firing one shot into the air.  He claimed that it was in response to two males who had been flashing their own guns, though there were no witnesses or evidence to support his claim.

The subject did have a valid CCW in his possession and DOL showed a 9mm Ruger registered in his name. Officers also discovered one spent casing in the area of the lot to which the suspect had directed officers .

The suspect would not give consent to search his vehicle, so it was impounded to the processing room pending a search warrant.

The suspect was investigated and released at the scene.
