Robbery downtown, suspect arrested

On June 28th, at approximately 12:45 AM, a West Precinct officer was parked in the 900 Block of Pine Street when a man ran up to him and pointed out a suspect fleeing the area on foot.  The victim told the officer that the suspect had just tried to rob him.  The suspect’s description was broadcast and the suspect was located a short time later.  He was taken into custody.

During the course of the investigation it was learned that the suspect and a group of his friends had crossed the street and approached the victim who was walking by himself.  The suspect blocked the victim’s path and began intimidating him.  The suspect demanded the victim’s money and when the victim refused and instead ran away, the suspect struck the victim in the back.  The victim ran down the street and reported the crime to the first officer he saw.  The 18 year old suspect was booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery.
