On July 19th at approximately 4:30 p.m., a male suspect armed with a handgun entered a business in the 500 block of NE Northgate Way. The suspect grabbed cash and fled the scene. The suspect was described as a white male wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap over a blond wig.
A witness observed a similarly described suspect carrying an envelope running in an alley behind the business. The subject got into an old, dirty white pickup truck with a blue stripe and a blue tarp over the bed. Numerous units responded to the scene, but the suspect or vehicle could not be located. Robbery detectives and Latent Print examiners responded to process the scene.
A few hours later, a patrol officer contacted the case detective with information on a possible suspect. During an area check for the suspect, the officer located the suspect’s unoccupied vehicle parked at a motel in the 13700 block of Aurora Avenue N.
Patrol and North Precinct Anti Crime Team officers, as well as Robbery detectives set up containment and SWAT and negotiators were called out. Several attempts were made to contact the occupants of the room, but there was no response. Search and arrest warrants were obtained and SWAT eventually made entry into the room, which was empty. The suspect vehicle was impounded. The suspect remains at large.
Robbery detectives continue to actively investigate.
