Suspect takes officer’s patrol vehicle

On 9/9/10, just shortly before 2:00 a.m., officers from the South Precinct responded to a burglary of an elementary school in the 3700 block of South Kenyon St. Upon arrival, officers checked the premises and located a suspect. The suspect was arrested, handcuffed and placed in the back seat of the patrol vehicle.

The officer stepped away from the patrol vehicle for a minute and the handcuffed suspect managed to crawl from the back seat to the front seat. It is unknown if the screen divider was down or if the suspect was able to lower it. The suspect drove away from the scene. The suspect abandoned the patrol vehicle in the area of 51st and Ruggles, near a park.

A search to include; a K-9, Guardian One, Tukwila PD and patrol is currently underway to find the suspect. The patrol vehicle was not damaged and equipment in the vehicle has been accounted for.

As of this posting, the suspect had not been located.
