Man stabbed at 3rd and Pine

On 9/9/10, at approximately 6:45 p.m., officers responded to a stabbing in front of the McDonalds at 3 & Pine.  After talking to witnesses, officers learned that the victim was involved in a verbal disturbance with another male inside the smoke shop located in the 1500 block of 3 Ave.

The victim and the other participant were ejected from the smoke shop.  This continued outside and a group gathered around.  Both individuals were separated before the altercation got physical.  According to witnesses, the victim was very loud and belligerent.  He continued to argue with other people in the crowd including the suspect who was part of the crowd.  A physical altercation erupted between the suspect and victim and the victim got knocked to the ground by the suspect.

The victim got up and attempted to start the physical altercation again but was held back by several individuals.  While these individuals were holding on to the victim in an attempt to stop him from continuing to fight, the suspect proceeded to stab the victim in the back several times and once in the arm (this occurred in front of the a business a couple of doors north of the smoke shop).

The victim staggered over to the McDonalds restaurant where he fell to the ground.  The suspect then fled the area.  It is unknown if the victim and the suspect knew each other.  The victim admitted to investigating officers that he was gang member.

Medics responded and the victim was treated at the scene, he was in stable condition when he was transported to Harborview Medical Center.

A suspect description was obtained but officers were unable to locate the suspect.  Gang unit detectives interviewed the victim at the hospital.
