Shots fired downtown, female suspect booked into jail

On September 17th at approximately 11:59 p.m. officers responded to a report of shots fired from a parking lot in the 2200 block of Western Avenue.  Officers arrived on scene and detained two suspects, a male and female. A handgun was recovered from the male suspect.

Further investigation revealed that a disturbance began around 11:50 p.m. when the female suspect and some of her friends had gotten into a physical fight near Western Avenue and Blanchard Street with four other females.  During this fight the female suspect received a cut to her nose and chin.  SWAT units on patrol observed the fight disturbance and broke it up.  All involved parties went their own way without wanting further assistance.

A short time later the suspects came upon the same four females in a parking lot in the 2200 block of Western Avenue.  A verbal argument ensued.  Sometime during this argument, the female suspect grabbed the handgun that was tucked into her husband’s waistband and fired a round into the air.  Responding officers took both suspects into custody and transported them to the West Precinct.

The male suspect was interviewed and released from the precinct.  The female suspect was booked into the King County Jail.

The handgun and found shell casing were booked into evidence.  Nobody was injured and no property damage was reported.
