On September 19th at approximately 9:57 a.m. an officer on patrol near North 143rd Street and Phinney Avenue North ran the plates of a Subaru wagon and verified that the car was stolen. The stolen Subaru was being driven by an adult male suspect, the only occupant of the vehicle.
The officer activated his emergency lights and siren in an attempt to stop the suspect however, the suspect failed to yield to the officer and continued driving. At North 143rd Street and Aurora Avenue North the suspect collided with a silver pickup truck occupied by two adults, a male driver and female passenger. The female passenger of the pickup truck was injured as a result of the collision and was transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The male driver was not injured.
The suspect also sustained injuries as a result of the collision and had to be extricated from the vehicle by SFD personnel. The suspect was transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, where he will be under police guard. The suspect faces charges of Investigation of Auto Theft and may face additional charges based on further investigation.
The officer who spotted the stolen vehicle was not involved in the collision and was not injured. Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives responded to the scene and continue to actively investigate.
