On November 4th at approximately 11:44 p.m. officers and fire department personnel responded to an office building in the 100 block of Union Street to contact a 38-year-old male complainant who reported seeing some suspicious “light-colored dust” in his office.
The complainant arrived at his office downtown at approximately 8:30 p.m. and noticed a white or yellow-colored dust-like substance on some of his items in the office. He cleaned off the items with some hand wipes and about 30 minutes later experienced strange sensations on his hands. The complainant called 911 approximately two and one-half hours later to report the situation.
SPD Arson/Bomb Squad detectives along with the SFD Hazardous Materials unit responded to the scene to investigate. After a thorough inspection, nothing harmful was detected.
The complainant was evaluated by SFD medics at the scene and did not require treatment. This remains an active and on-going investigation.
