On January 22nd at approximately 2:13 a.m. officers responded to a report of a hit and run vehicle/pedestrian collision that occurred at Boylston Avenue East and East Pine Street. Preliminary investigation indicates that an adult female pedestrian was attempting to cross the street in a marked crosswalk. As the victim was crossing the street, the female suspect, who was driving a pickup truck that was stopped at the intersection, accelerated forward striking the victim. The suspect failed to stop and continued traveling eastbound across the intersection and fled the scene.
Officers located and apprehended the suspect in the 900 block of 23rd Avenue South. Officers evaluated the 24-year-old female suspect for signs of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The suspect displayed signs of impairment. She was placed under arrest and processed for Driving Under the Influence.
SFD medics responded to the scene of the collision and transported the female pedestrian to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives responded to the scene and continue to actively investigate.
