On March 8th, at approximately 6:30 AM, the manager of a business in the 1100 Block of North 140th Street observed a suspect load tires from one of his customer’s cars into a purple van and drive off. The manager was able to provide officers with a description and license plate number. The description of the van matched that of a suspicious vehicle call several hours earlier in another northend neighborhood. A North Precinct patrol officer located the suspect vehicle approximately 40 blocks away and took the suspect into custody. The manager positively identified the suspect. Inside the van was at least six tires with wheels and possibly other stolen items. The manager later found that a total of six tires was missing from his customer’s cars. The van was impounded so detectives could obtain a search warrant. The 38 year old male suspect was later booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Theft and an outstanding warrant.
