On April 22nd at approximately 11:15 a.m. the adult male suspect and victim were involved in some type of exchange on the sidewalk at 3rd Avenue and Pike Street. The male victim then began chasing after the suspect in the 1500 block of 3rd Avenue. The suspect then stabbed the victim in the lower left abdomen area prior to fleeing the area on foot.
An uninvolved citizen who was told by the victim that he had been stabbed contacted a uniformed officer working off-duty at a nearby store at 3rd Avenue and Pike Street and informed the officer of the stabbing. The officer called for police and medics to respond to the scene.
Responding officers attempted to get suspect information from the victim as SFD medics provided him aid. The victim refused to cooperate with officers or provide any suspect information. Investigating officers located a witness who provided a suspect description: white male, 22 to 29 years old, 6’00” tall, 160 lbs., short beard, wearing a camouflage jacket, black pants and a purple baseball cap.
SFD medics informed officers that the victim’s injuries were non-life-threatening. The suspect remains at large.
