On May 16th, at approximately 10:30 AM, East Precinct officers were dispatched to a report of an unknown female in the backyard of a residence in the 2000 Block of 12th Avenue East. Officers arrived and observed the white female walking northbound on 12th Avenue East. As officers approached, she took off running through the backyard of a house, attempting to run toward an alley. The officer was able to catch up with her and detain her. As the suspect was fleeing, she dropped a laptop computer on the ground. Officers made contact with the original complaintant who confirmed the suspect was the same female seen in the backyard. While checking neighboring houses, officers discovered the back door to a residence in the 1200 Block of East Newton Street standing wide open. The suspect admitted to officers that she had entered that house and stolen the laptop from inside the house, as well as some other miscellaneous items. The victim was contacted and identified the stolen property as hers. The victim couldn’t remember if she left her home unlocked. The 19 year old female was interviewed by Burglary detectives at the precinct and then later booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Burglary.
