Barricaded suspect incident resolved peacefully

On May 25th at approximately 12:43 p.m. officers responded to the 12200 block of Park Avenue North for a report that a 61-year-old male subject was having a “manic episode” outside of his shared residence.  Patrol officers and on-duty SWAT officers in the area responded to the scene and made contact with the suspect at the window of his basement residence. 

While on scene, officers established probable cause to arrest the suspect for misdemeanor Harassment/Threats against his mother however, the suspect refused to come outside.  Additionally, officers developed information that the suspect was armed with a knife.  

The SWAT team was called to the scene and made entry into the suspect’s residence.  The suspect was subsequently taken into custody without further incident.  Arresting officers recovered a knife within lunging distance of where the suspect was taken into custody.  

The suspect was booked into the King County Jail for misdemeanor Domestic Violence Harassment/Threats.
