Serial Sexual Assault suspect arrested

On June 1st at approximately 3:40 p.m. bicycle officers on patrol in the 400 block of Maynard Avenue South were contacted by a female sexual assault victim.  The 23-year-old victim told officers that she had been sexually assaulted the day before (May 30th at approximately 8:30 p.m.) in the 500 block of South Jackson Street.  The suspect in the assault was standing nearby.  The victim pointed out the suspect to the officers.

Officers contacted the suspect on the sidewalk.  The 17-year-old male suspect was interviewed, placed under arrest and booked into the Youth Service Center for Assault with sexual motivation.

Officers forwarded the case to Sexual Assault Unit (SAU) detectives who created a photo montage and showed it to two separate female sexual assault victims from cases currently under active investigation.

Both of those victims picked out the same suspect from the collection of photographs.

The other two victims are from sexual assault incidents that occurred in South Seattle in 2011.

The first one occurred on April 5th at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Mount Baker Boulevard just east of Rainier Avenue South.  The victim in that case was a 16-year-old female.

The second one occurred on May 18th at approximately 7:15 a.m. near Rainier Avenue South and MLK Jr. Way South.  The victim in that case was also a 16-year-old female.

All three Sexual Assault cases will be filed with the Juvenile Prosecutor on June 6th, 2011.

This remains an active and on-going Sexual Assault Unit investigation.
