On June 13th at around 8:30 p.m., East Precinct patrol officers responded to the 4000 block of East Madison Street. A woman had called 911 and stated that her adult son, who suffers from mental illness, was off of his medications, hallucinating and arguing with his family. He had left the home on foot and she was following him.
Officers arrived and contacted the man and his mother. The man refused officer commands and a brief struggle ensued while they took him into custody. An ambulance was summoned and the man was transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation.
