Assault downtown, suspect arrested

On June 22nd, at approximately 9:30 PM, West Precinct officers responded to calls of two separate assaults in the 500 Block of Pine Street and the 1600 Block of 5th Avenue.  Both incidents had the same suspect description.  When officers arrived and confronted the suspect, he fled, ignoring the officer’s commands to stop.  A brief foot pursuit ensued and the suspect was taken into custody.  The suspect, a 15 year old male, was transported to Harborview Medical Center with a possible concussion and a broken nose.  Upon examination at the hospital, it was determined that he had sustained serious head injuries, including a fractured skull.  The suspect admitted to officers that he had used drugs that evening.

Officers located three separate victims that were assaulted by the suspect.  The victims all stated that the unknown suspect approached them and assaulted them without provocation.  One of the victims was elbowed in the face by the suspect with such force that he sustained damage to his dental work.  Another victim was struck in the side of the head. The third victim was punched in the head and sustained a large bruise to his right eye.   All of the victims stated that it appeared that the suspect was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, and that he had dried blood under his nose and blood stains on the front of his clothing.  Once the suspect is released from the hospital, he will be booked into the Youth Services Center for Investigation of Assault.
