On 7/3/11, just shortly after midnight, officers responded to a club in the 1900 block of 1st Av S to a reported shooting. The event was an under 21 dance, which was well attended by teens from all over the greater Seattle area.
The 21-yr-old victim got into an argument with the suspects outside the club, and a fight immediately ensued. The victim was able to break away and run north bound on the sidewalk, at which point one of the suspects produced a firearm and ran after the victim and started shooting at him.
The victim ran into the street, as the shooter ran off eastbound on Holgate. The victim then ran back to the front of the club, where officers found him.
He suffered one gunshot to his left elbow and one to his left knee. Seattle Fire responded and transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) via Medics.
HMC ER Staff informed Gang Unit Detectives that the victim’s wounds were not life threatening.
Gang Unit Detectives interviewed remaining rival gang members who were loitering outside the club. Both groups affirmed that the fight and shooting stemmed from their mutual dislike of each other.
No one would identify the suspects. This is an open and active investigation.
