Shooting in Rainier Beach, suspect apprehended

On July 14th at approximately 8:43 p.m. uniformed patrol and plainclothes units were working the area of a vigil for the multiple-victims of last nights shooting/homicide in the 9600 block of 54th Avenue South.  Officers saw a two-tone blue and silver Dodge Magnum station wagon with chrome wheels turn eastbound onto South Roxbury Street from northbound 54th Avenue South.  The juvenile male suspect and another juvenile male were near the southeast corner of the intersection.

As the car turned the corner the suspect pulled out a pistol and fired one round into the Dodge’s passenger side.  The vehicle sped off eastbound on South Roxbury Street and remains at large.

The suspect and the subject with him both took off running in different directions.  Officers immediately pursued the two males on foot and quickly apprehended both of them.

The 17-year-old male suspect was booked into the Youth Service Center for Investigation of Assault.

The other subject, a 15-year-old male, was interviewed by Gang Unit detectives and released to his parents pending further investigation.

Gang Unit detectives responded to the scene and continue to actively investigate.

Anyone with information about this incident, or who may know the identities or whereabouts of the subject(s) who were in the Dodge Magnum, or the whereabouts of the Dodge Magnum, is asked to call 911 or the Seattle Police Homicide tip line at (206) 233-5000.  Anonymous tips are welcome.
