On June 19th at approximately 2:30 a.m. the 31-year-old male victim was sitting on the curb in the 50 block of South King Street. Suddenly a car pulled up and two adult male suspects exited the vehicle and attacked the victim without provocation. The suspects punched the victim on the face and stole his cell phone. The suspects then got back into the vehicle, described as an older blue Honda Accord, and sped away.
The victim sustained lacerations to his face and other injuries, but declined medical attention. The suspects were gone upon officers’ arrival. Patrol officers subsequently forwarded their investigative information to Robbery detectives.
Robbery detectives developed information during the course of their on-going investigation that led them to an address in Bellevue. On June 28th SPD Robbery detectives (with the assistance of Bellevue police officers) contacted and interviewed one of the suspects who also happened to be the registered owner of the suspect vehicle. That suspect was released pending further investigation.
On July 21st a second suspect was identified and subsequently interviewed and released pending further investigation. On July 27th the two previously interviewed suspects were contacted by SPD Robbery detectives in Bellevue and placed under arrest.
The suspects, both 22-year-old males, were booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery.
SPD Robbery detectives continue to actively investigate.
