On July 28th at around 2:54 a.m., West Precinct patrol officers responded to a report that that two men had entered the apartments under construction on the SE corner of 3rd Ave/Cedar Street, and that they were apparently still inside. The complainant, a security guard, informed officers that no workers were present and that the two men inside were there without authorization.
Officers contained the building. A K9 officer responded to the scene as well. Officers on the perimeter heard several loud crashes coming from the upper floors of the building. After giving three PA announcements over a period of 8 minutes, a team of four officers plus the K9 team entered the site and searched the building.
On the 10th floor, officers discovered the two suspect attempting to hide by laying still on some construction materials. The men, aged 27 and 30, were taken into custody without incident. They were subsequently booked for Investigation of Burglary.
