On July 30th, at about 4:15 AM, employees at a community center in the 5700 Block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South reported that a male suspect had fired a gun near the community center and then fled the scene in a car. South Precinct officers responded and stopped two possible vehicles, one at Rainier Ave. South and South Graham, the other at 46th Avenue South and South Morgan Street.
Witnesses were able to positively identify one of the detained suspects as the person they saw firing the gun. The actual gun was not located, but three spent 9mm casings were recovered in front of a residence in the 5700 Block of 37th Avenue South, and a box of 44 magnum ammunition was recovered inside the suspect’s car.
No victims were located, and the suspect was arrested and later booked into jail for Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
