Assault & Robbery of 68-year-old man in Belltown

On August 3rd, just after midnight, West Precinct officers responded to a report of a man who had been assaulted and possibly robbed in the 300 block of Cedar Street.  Upon arrival, officers located a 68-year-old male victim lying on the ground, semi-conscious, bleeding from the head.  Seattle Fire Department Medics responded and transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center. 

A witness stated that he observed the victim lying on the ground and there were four or five black males standing around the victim.  The witness stated that he observed one of the suspects stomp on the victim’s head, and then reach into the victim’s back pocket to remove what appeared to be a wallet.  The witness ran to the victim’s aid, scaring off the attackers.  

The  description of the suspects are  black males, mid-twenties, medium build.   The main suspect was described as wearing a blue and yellow striped polo type shirt and denim shorts.   The suspects were last seen running northbound on 4th Avenue.    Officers spent time canvassing the neighborhood for additional witnesses and evidence, but did not locate anything further. 

Robbery detectives are actively investigating.
