Man stabbed in “Jungle”, suspect arrested

On August 31st, just before 3:00 am, South Precinct officers responded to the area of 5th Avenue South and South Lander Street to meet with a 35 year old male victim.  The victim told officers that he and the suspect are acquaintances who drink together.  The victim told officers that he and the suspect were together earlier in the evening drinking in the “jungle” when the suspect just “snapped.”  According to the victim, the suspect did not say anything, but pulled out a wood handled kitchen knife and stabbed the victim in the right thigh.  The suspect then walked away.

The victim walked towards 4th and Lander and was observed by a witness who called 911.  Officers and Seattle Fire arrived.  The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of his non life-threatening injury.  Before he was transported, the victim was able to provide a first name and physical description of the suspect.

Officers located a possible suspect and detained him.  A photo montage was prepared and presented to the victim in the hospital, who immediately identified the suspect as the person who stabbed him.  The 43 year old suspect was arrested and later booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Assault.
