On October 6th at approximately 2:30 a.m. an officer on patrol in the 7400 block of Seaview Avenue NW came across a 1989 Volvo 4-door sedan parked in a parking lot next to the boat launch at Shilshole Bay. Upon further inspection the officer discovered a deceased male in his 50’s sitting in the driver’s seat of the car with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The officer then noticed a suspicious-looking box in the back seat of the car with wires coming out of it. The officer backed away, called for additional units and secured the area (there was nobody else inside the vehicle nor anyone in the immediate area).
Arson/Bomb Squad (ABS) detectives responded to the scene. After further examination ABS detectives determined that the suspicious box in the back seat of the car was harmless.
The death is being investigated as a suicide.
