Vehicle/pedestrian collision on Aurora with injuries

On November 16th at approximately 11:22 p.m. officers responded to reports of a vehicle/pedestrian collision near North 105th Street and Aurora Avenue North.  Preliminary investigation indicates that a male driver in his 20’s was traveling northbound on Aurora Avenue North in his Ford Taurus sedan.  A 22-year-old female pedestrian was crossing Aurora Avenue North from east to west when she was struck in the northbound lanes near the intersection with North 105th Street.   

SFD medics responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian to Harborview Medical Center with a life-threatening head injury.  The driver of the Ford was not injured.

It is unknown at this time if the pedestrian was in a marked crosswalk and/or lawfully crossing the street.  The circumstances leading to the collision remain under active investigation.  

Officers evaluated the driver of the Ford who showed indications of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.  He is currently being investigated for Driving Under the Influence. 

Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives responded to the scene and continue to actively investigate.

All northbound lanes of Aurora Avenue North just north of the intersection with North 105th Street are shut down and traffic is being re-routed eastbound and westbound at the intersection.  The road closure should last until approximately 2:30 a.m.
