Commercial Vehicle Enforcement

On January 25th officers from the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Squad inspected 14 commercial trucks.  The officers worked the 100 block of South Denver Street, the 400 block of South Holden Street and Terminal 46. 

The following violations were documented:

Headlight Mounting – 1

Fire Extinguisher – 2

Lights (marker, clearance) – 2

Tire (steering axle) underinflated – 1

Turn/hazard inoperable – 3

Conspicuity – 13

Bill of Lading – 1

Brake Air Hose – 3

Expired Tonnage – 3

Required Emergency Equipment – 2

Windshield – 2

Front Bumper, interfere with steering – 1

Air Leak, Brake hose – 3 

Citations were issued for the following violations:

Turn Signal – 2

Expired Tonnage – 2

Red Light – 1

No Proof Insurance – 1

Fire Extinguisher – 1

Cell Phone – 1

Crossing Center Line – 1 

The documented violations will be forwarded to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and will count as “strikes” against the company, the driver and the carrier.
