Commercial Vehicle Enforcement

On January 26th officers from the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Squad inspected seven commercial trucks. 

Areas worked: Harbor Island, Terminal 25, East Marginal Way South and Diagonal  Avenue South. 

The following violations were documented:

Lights (head, tail, turn) – 3

Lights (marker, clearance) – 1

Conspicuity – 3

Unsecured Steering Systems – 2

Seatbelt – 2

Brake Hose, compromised – 2

Windshield – 3 

The following citations were issued: 

RR Crossing, fail to stop for approaching train – 1

Seatbelt – 1

Defective Brakes – 1 

The documented violations will be forwarded to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and will count as “strikes” against the company, the driver and the carrier.

The Seattle Police Department encourages all commercial motor vehicle operators to be familiar with and obey all local and state laws and all federal motor carrier safety regulations.
