Commercial Vehicle Enforcement

On January 27th officers from the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Squad inspected five commercial trucks. The inspections took place in the following areas: the 100 block of South Spokane Street and East Marginal Way South and South Hanford Street.

 The following violations were documented:

4 – Inoperable lighting equipment: low beam headlights, side marker, brakes

3 – Unsecured Mirror

1 – Retroflective Sheeting Required

1 – Unlatched Hood

1 – Overweight Trailer (1,740 pounds over)

1 – Brake Air Hose on Deck

1 – Windshield Washer System (no fluid)

1 – Air Brake Warning Device Inoperative

1 – Failure to Inspect Emergency Equipment

1 – Tire Tread Depth

2 – Tires Missing on Trailer

1 – Unsecured Fire Extinguisher

1 – No Fire Extinguisher

1 – No Horn 

Citations were issued for the following violations: 

1 – Overweight Trailer  

1 – No Fire Extinguisher

1 – Unsafe Tire Condition

1 – Defective Brake lights

1 – No Horn

 The documented violations will be forwarded to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and will count as “strikes” against the company, the driver and the carrier.
