On March 6th, at approximately 8:40 pm, West Precinct officers were dispatched to a threats call to an apartment building in the 200 Block of Yesler Way. The staff at the building informed officers that one of the tenants had threated to shoot people while in the lobby, and then went to his room. Officers attempted to contact the resident at his room. When officers knocked on the door, the suspect threatened to shoot them as well. Additional officers responded to the scene, as well as Hostage Negotiators and SWAT. The negotiators attempted to establish a dialogue with the suspect, but after several hours it was apparent that the suspect would not cooperate with them. SWAT officers entered the apartment after officers had secured a signed search warrant at approximately 1:00 am. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. The 56 year old male was later booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Harassment.
