Stabbing in Cal Anderson Park

On May 24th at approximately 6:06 p.m. officers responded to a 911 call of a stabbing in Cal Anderson Park located in the 1600 block of 11th Avenue.  Officers arrived on scene and located the suspect, a 29-year-old female, who was sitting on a park bench.  Witnesses pointed out the suspect to officers who then placed the suspect under arrest.

As the officers handcuffed the suspect an assembled crowd became hostile.  The crowd began yelling vulgarities at the officers and moving toward them.  Officers called for additional units to help them bring the scene under control.

After additional units were on scene SFD medics moved in to treat the 30-year-old male victim who had been slashed on the wrist by the suspect.  The victim was treated at the scene and transported to Harborview Medical Center with what was determined to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers recovered the knife believed to be used in the assault, a 3-inch blade folding knife, on the ground about eight feet away from where the suspect was sitting.

After being placed under arrest the suspect began flailing around and screaming.  She then became “dead weight” requiring the officers to carry her to a patrol car.

The suspect was subsequently booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Assault.
