Angry man punches his girlfriend at a North Seattle church and take their 4- day-old child. Today just shortly after 11:00 a.m., officers responded to a church at 4731 15 AV NE to a report of an assault. Officers arrived and contacted a church staff member who stated that the couple got into an argument and the suspect punched his girlfriend (baby’s mother) and took their child. When a staff member attempted to intervene, the suspect punched him as well. The suspect took the baby and left the church.
Officers arrived and attempted to contact the suspect but he refused to hand over the baby. On duty Crisis Intervention officers (CIT), SWAT and Hostage Negotiators responded to the scene. The CIT officer was able to talk the suspect into handing over the child. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Seattle Fire responded and treated all victims on scene. The child and mother were transported to an area hospital. The child did not have any visible injuries. The mother sustained minor bruises.
The suspect will be booked into King County Jail for Domestic Violence Assault, and Assault.
