Three men forced entry into a marijuana dispensary and robbed the night watchman at gunpoint. At approximately 4:26 a.m. officers initially responded to the 8700 block of Lake City Way NE for the report of an armed robbery.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the 70 year old male victim was working as a night watchman at a medical marijuana dispensary in the 8600 block of Lake City Way NE. Three suspects, two of whom were armed with handguns, forced entry into the facility and held the watchman at gunpoint while they filled the watchman’s car with approximately 40 marijuana plants and a laptop computer. The three suspects fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle, a red 1993 Toyota Camry station wagon, and remain at large.
The victim was not injured in the robbery however, he walked a block away and waited 30 minutes before calling 911.
The targeted dispensary is a three-story commercial building that has been converted into a medical marijuana facility. The three suspects indicated by their actions that they were familiar with the facility but were unknown to the victim.
The three suspects are described as follows:
Suspect #1: black male, 40’s, 6’4″ tall, 270 pounds, heavy build, wearing dark clothing and armed with a handgun.
Suspect #2: white male, 40’s, 5’8″, thin build, wearing a gray shirt and pants and armed with a handgun.
Suspect #3: white male, 40’s, 5’8″, thin build, wearing a gray hoodie.
Robbery detectives responded to the scene and continue to actively investigate. Narcotics detectives will investigate further to determine whether the dispensary is properly permitted and operating within the limits of the law.
UPDATE: Officers located the stolen 1993 Toyota Camry (parked and unoccupied) at NE 95th Street and 23rd Avenue NE. The vehicle was impounded and taken to the evidence garage to process for forensic evidence.
